2019 is the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci, the definitive Renaissance man.  Museums, the media - will there be a movie? - will explore learning and creativity, imagination and enigma, faith and politics. And PASCAL will hold its XVIth Conference.

The title of the conference is “Learning for Resilience: People, Place and Partnership in Urban and Rural Communities”. The dates are 16-19 October 2019, beginning and ending in Cork, Ireland at University College Cork. There will be a side trip on the 18th and 19th to the Skellig Centre for Research and Innovation on the western coast, with interactive sessions with stakeholders and community people. People travelling to Ireland should try to arrive on the 16th.

With a focus on adult/lifelong learning, place-making and cohesion, this three-day international conference will bring together scholars and practitioners who develop learning opportunities. Communities in  the contemporary world are diverse, ranging spatially from inner cities to remote rural areas and encapsulating the complex web of identities that are part of life today. And learning by people at all ages is at the core of problem-solving in the face of 21st century problems.

The themes of resilience and lifelong learning in urban and rural communities will cover some of the key challenges to be explored  in Cork and at the Skellig Centre for Research and Innovation in Kerry.
